Established in 1995, Exedy's roots lie with Kazuma Adachi, who founded Adachi Manufacturing and began to manufacture and repair clutch discs in Japan in 1923. The company incorporated Daikin Manufacturing in 1950 and started to make and sell its own clutches. In 1995, its changed its name and became the Exedy Corporation. Exedy clutches are now found in everything from production cars to F1 racers. Its range of off-the-shelf performance clutches covers most Japanese performance cars on the market.
